Supporting Transition and Hardship

Rotary is perfectly placed to provide assistance in many forms to those less fortunate that ourselves.  Working with Youth Projects, Caprice, Pacific Brands and Rotary’s Donations in Kind we are very active in supporting homeless people in the CBD with much needed clothing, blankets and other supplies.  We use some of our funds raised to provide an ongoing medical service to these members of our community through the Night Nurses Patrol at a time when other public services have closed over the Christmas New Year period.

One of Rotary’s key strengths is mentoring which we are able to use over a variety of projects and partnerships.  For a number of years we have been growing a mentoring program where rotarians are able to guide new Australians and asylum seekers through the maze of job search in their transition to living in the Melbourne community.

In the spirit of giving, rotarians and friends work with a variety of partners to ensure many in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves do not miss out in receiving goodwill and gifts at Christmas.  In partnership with TAL Insurance, Lentara Uniting Care, Steps Outreach and Shine for Kids to facilitate the donations of Christmas gifts and food hampers for distribution to those in need.
