The reason most Rotarians will offer for being part of Rotary is that they want to help others. The opportunity Rotary provides to make a difference in the lives of people who are in some way less fortunate than us is not limited to Australia.

Our International Service Committee is responsible for several projects outside Australia – some as part of the greater Rotary family through our global networks and functions, and some through our own members and their contacts and experiences overseas.

Although our focus is on the needs of our neighbours in SE Asia and the Pacific, issues sometimes go beyond local geography.  We have a number of ongoing projects in SE Asia. In particular we have been helping build and refurbish schools in the remote villages of Luang Prabang Province in Laos for over 4 years.

We also donate funds to agencies such as Shelter Box or Disaster Aid Australia when the need arises, particularly after natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes or tsunamis.

We manage our international projects to make sure that money and effort are not wasted and bring about best possible outcomes for all concerned – including our own club and our own members.
