The evolving “new” role of Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne) VPCM

Rachel will be providing an informative update on the relatively newly created VPCM and the critical role it plays for trade, economic development, tourism and jobs in Victoria.

Rachel Johnson took up the role of inaugural Chief Executive Officer of Victorian Ports Corporation (Melbourne) (VPCM) in November 2016, following the Victorian Government’s successful leasing of the Port of Melbourne’s commercial operations to a private sector operator.

VPCM is responsible for safe navigation in Port of Melbourne’s waters and for the management of Station Pier, Victoria’s premier cruise shipping facility, as well as the development of the cruise industry for the benefit of the Victorian economy.

Rachel has wide ranging experience of Australian freight and logistics businesses and the development and operation of transport infrastructure in the public and private sectors.

She has held senior positions in New South Wales government bodies as well as in a number of high profile private sector companies.

Rachel holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours), Aeronautical Engineering, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has advanced management qualifications.
