Jeanette Large (CEO of the Women’s Property Initiative and Vic finalist Telstra Business Womens Awards 2015,) and
Kristie Looney (Officer in Effective Control and Business Development Manager of Property Initiatives Real Estate.
The Women’s Property Initiative (WPI) is a Not For Profit organisation focused on supplying and managing affordable and safe housing for “at risk” women and children.
Commencing in 1996, and governed by a Board of appropriately skilled women, the WPI owns and manages about 68 properties in new housing developments and apartment blocks.
Property Initiatives Real Estate is the social enterprise real estate agency created by the WPI. This is the commercial side of the WPI, and responsible for the management of property generally within a 10km radius of the Melbourne CBD. The objective of this part of the WPI business is to manage the approximately 100 properties on the rent-roll, such that a positive social impact is generated for “at risk” women and children, while still delivering a higher level of service for investors. All profits from the real estate activities are channelled back to WPI.
