Chair & MC for the morning, Koren Harvey.
At the last meeting for 2014, Rotarians and their partners and friends entered the Pavilion Room at the RACV to be greeted by a bright display of red and green Christmas Hampers donated by members.
Among the many guests were DG Murray Verso ; AG Ian Salek and his wife Heather; Charter President Terry Cocks; Steps Ministry representative, Anne Mitchell; Lentara Asylum Seeker Project representative, Amanda Johnson and Rotary Peace Scholar, Michelle Heard.
President Roy Garrett presented the Christmas hampers to Anne and Amanda to pass on to clients of The Steps Ministry and the Lentara project. He also presented to each organisation, $750 worth of Woolworths Essentials Vouchers, valued at $25 each for their clients. These vouchers were donated by Club members Marjorie and Bernie Gerlinger and by Robert Brunner (Chairman of Circle Credit Co-operative).
Following the formalities,
Heather Walklate (at the keyboards) and
Gerard Hogan and
Kevin Love led the room in a series of Christmas Carols. Attempts by Gerard and Kevin to sing a final carol (We Three Kings) were interrupted by
George Mackey, questioning the wisdom of navigating by stars, as were two final attempts (
While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night and Jingle Bells) by
Rob Hines and
Neil Salvano, on OHS and risk management grounds respectively.
President Roy closed the meeting wishing everyone the best for the season and thanking all involved in the morning, particularly Margaret Thomas for her work in assembling goods for the Lentara hampers.
