Dianne Shay, Senior Manager Payments Industry at NAB
"New Payments Platform, What it Means for Businesses & Consumers."
New Payments Platform ['NPP'] is a centralised platform that enables real-time clearing and settlements of payments between participating Australian financial institutions. No more waiting for 2-3 business days for funds to clear. It will change the way business is transacted going forward.
NAB is one of over 60 Australian financial institutions connected to the 'NPP'. It’s a faster, simpler and smarter way to move money in Australia.
Consumers will be able to send a fast payment with funds transferred between participating banks in less than 60 seconds, 24/7 in most instances. We will be able to create and provide our PayID instead of our BSB and account number to make getting paid easier. The PayID is a unique identifier linked to your transaction account and can be your email address, mobile number or ABN. We will also be able to send more detailed descriptions (up to 280 characters) with our fast payments.
Dianne has over 30 years of experience in financial services as a champion of innovation that benefits all consumers and businesses. Recipient of the Women in Payments Thought Leader award in 2017, Dianne is acknowledged as an agent of change across the Australian payments industry with a proven track record in bringing people along the journey with her.

Garden DesignFest has been our largest fund raiser in recent years.
Here is an opportunity for you to help with the selection of gardens.
Do you know, or have friends who know an architect who designs domestic houses?
Garden DesignFest 2018 is looking for new landscape designers to be part of this years’ event. We are hoping to identify new designers not on our contact lists through architects who use landscape designers on their projects.
Can you please ask around your friends group, at golf, the gym, wherever you can start up a conversation – you never know what you can uncover with a simple question.
All we need is the name and contact details of the architect and the introducer and we could just have another garden to show in 2018.
Melbourne metro, Mornington Peninsula, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Macedon areas are all in our sites – so, can you help us?
Spirometer, purchased by Youth Projects with funds from Rotary Central Melbourne.
This very versatile piece of equipment allows the medical staff at Hosier Lane to carry out a number of diagnostic lung function tests on the spot, contributing to immediate diagnosis of a number of conditions.
The homeless have a much higher than average incidence of respiratory problems than the general population. There are problems in obtaining this type of testing from public health facilities. Clients are often loathe to comply with referrals to emergency departments or outpatients because of time and transport obstacles. Testing is sometimes refused, and the results not released to Youth Projects' medicos.
A simple test on the spot results in quick and appropriate treatment, prevents clients falling through gaps in the system and lightens the cost to public health. The price of the spirometer, which is integrated with Youth Project's medical computer system, was just under $ 3000.
Youth Projects' thanks go to all members of our Club.
Robyn Seale is pictured here in front of her painting at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art at Kew Gardens in London.
Her painting of the Banksia blechnifolia is part of the Florilegium of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sydney published in 2016 to celebrate the bicentenary. The Florilegium illustrates the beauty and diversity of the plants grown in the gardens and is on display at Kew until September.
Tony will be a panel member, live from the Sky News Centreon their "....no holds barred observation of politics and the issues that matter most" program "Outsiders", to be screened at 8pm on Thursday 10th May on Foxtel.
The topic is Hillary Rodham Clinton and coincides with her speaking in Melbourne the same evening about her book 'What Happened'. The panel will be led by Rowan Dean editor of Spectator Australia.
Tony says he is now frantically boning up on his US knowledge, and how to behave on a panel. Being on a tour of Milan and Venice right now is not conducive to Hillary research but he will be home by May 7th.
