GUEST SPEAKER 20th MARCH - REPORT
Marc Rusic - Author, Artist, Speaker

"Iconic Melbourne",  Self  Publishing Challenges & Successes

Mark Rusic, graduate Mechanical Engineer, self-published author, painter, husband, father of three, thought he was only getting a sausage in bread for his money at Port Melbourne Bunnings store.  What he got was an appearance at RCM breakfast to share his story on ‘Iconic Melbourne’ and latest publication ‘Iconic Animals of Australia’.

Mark’s success includes the publication of two books, a book signing at Melbourne’s Dymocks bookstore alongside former PM John Howard, a showcase at Melbourne Museum and bulk purchases by former Assistant Governor, Mr. J Shepherd and former US President Obama.

Mark’s story was very much about the creative influence of his work by Ken Done, Ken Duncan and Vincent Van Gogh that inspired his first book as a collection of paintings, photos and poetry and his second as a pictorial animal association on the release of potential.  He gave an overview of his model for successful self-publishing, one that is built on four pillars:
  • Makeover – from suppression impression
  • Motivation – from contemplating to concluding
  • Model - from features to featured
  • Marketing – from striving to steering.
