Downsizing Effectively

There comes a time when we may need to downsize. Our current home is too large, or we just need less. So what’s the best way to do this? Look for a single level home, or one with all living area and the master bedroom on the same level. A smaller garden can also be more manageable, with minimal lawn. Frances will present a few key things to consider when downsizing.

Frances is an in demand interior designer with a passion and expertise in building and renovating beautiful spaces. She has over 15 years’ experience and really enjoys watching homes come alive, and have her clients fall in love with them.

Frances studied Marketing at Monash and spent 20 years working in Marketing Communications for multi-national corporations before deciding to follow her passion for interiors. She studied interior design and decorating in London and started her own interiors business in London before finally setting up here in Australia in 2010.

Having lived in Europe (Amsterdam and London) for 12 years, Frances has developed her own unique style and influences. Her philosophy on design is that your home is a story of you, how you live, your lifestyle and your life journey, and she works with her clients to create homes that are uniquely theirs based on this philosophy.

She has completed many build and subdivision projects, including the build of her own ‘Forever Home’ in 2014. The house has featured in several publications including House & Garden, the Herald Sun, and been profiled on Houzz. She is also the author of ‘Your Forever Home’ – a practical guide for those about to embark on building or renovating to create their ‘Forever Home’.

Frances is passionate about helping her clients through their build, extension or renovation, to alleviate the overwhelm often experienced with building, and to prepare them for each stage so they are confident in making the right decisions. She is known for her down to earth style and sharing her own experiences to assist clients. She is passionate about incorporating sustainable features into a home and challenging the status quo on how sustainability and good design can be intertwined.
