Ahhh DIK…..YOU”VE DONE IT AGAIN
Reporter – Frank O’Brien
Our Club, along with other Clubs in D9800 and beyond, was recently advised by DIK that it had received a large quantity of used, laundered single bed linen sets (in excess of 1300) in excellent condition which was on offer for collection by Rotary Clubs from its Warehouse in West Footscray.
Cutting to the chase, our Community Service C’tee quickly went into action via Pauline and I and the bottom line is as follows:
- Over 60 sets of bed linen (including Doonas, Doona Covers, Sheets and Pillow Cases were sourced.
- Deliveries were made to BASP (Brigidine Assylum Seekers Project), Sacred Heart School, Fitzroy and St Vincent de Paul Conference, Balwyn North/East Kew. All bed linen sets will be provided to persons in necessitous circumstances/ social housing.
- Value of the goods delivered was estimated to be in excess of $2200.
- The bulk of the linen sets were taken up by Clubs supporting overseas projects so it was great to support “needy” locals, which is whom DIK is now also supporting .
