Last Saturday Gerard Hogan, Allan Crawford, Suvam Ganguli, Maria Groner (friend of RCCM) Nicole and I made our way to Benalla to do our bit for the Regent Honeyeater Project one of the nation’s most active volunteer conservation projects. Allan was so keen to get there he arrived on Friday night and the rest of us left at the crack of dawn to make it to Benalla for a 9am start. After registration a safety prep talk and instructions, we selected our tools of choice and got digging.
Our aim was to plant 60 trees on behalf of the club. It wasn’t too long before we stopped counting the holes we dug because we reckon we dug close to 350 holes and contributed to the planting of over a thousand trees.
I think RI World President Ian Riseley would be quite impressed with our clubs effort! Thank you to those who joined in. I highly recommend it next year.
