On Saturday 18th May at 8.30 am, Rotary Central Melbourne volunteers arrived at Royal Talbot Kew to assist Steven Wells (horticultural therapist) and Robyn (volunteer with Royal Talbot) dig out the old growth, prune and lay down pine bark for winter in the gardens around the wards of the Acquired Brain Injury Unit.
Many thanks to the many hands that made light work including Jill and Warwick Cavell, Marjorie Gerlinger, Bruce Heron and daughter Tahlia, Rebecca and Neville John, Martin Langton, Lyn and Bruce McBain, Lorraine Meehan, Therese Robinson, Pippa and Roger Thornton, Lynne Webber, Rohan Williams and Zhang Yanpu.
With their help, the garden was transformed into a beautiful oasis for the ABI patients.
Rotary Central Melbourne has been volunteering every year at Royal Talbot for the last 15 years. Sadly, this will be Marjorie and Bernie’s last year before they head to their new home in Queensland. Marjorie and Lyn have been cooking up a beautiful morning tea and lunch for the gardeners for 15 years!
