In 2018, Rotary Central Melbourne donated a trailer to the Phillip Island Landcare group. The trailer had done sterling service to the club for its Community Village project. When that project finished, the trailer was surplus to the club's needs, so we found a new home for it.
The Landcare group now uses it for their planting days and for promoting their activities at community events.  Past President Neville Taylor, the president in the year the trailer was donated, recently came across the trailer in its new role at a community open day. Neville is pictured above catching up with David Rooks, president of the Landcare group.
The intention at the time of the donation was that the club would join the Landcare group for planting days as part of its hands on service activities. Now that we are able to resume hands on activities, we have identified such a day for our club.
Rotarians and Friends of Rotary are invited to participate in a combined Phillip Island Landcare and Ripples N Tonic tree planting activity on Saturday 19th June and Sunday 20th June with a Saturday night stay at Ripples N Tonic.
Phillip Island Landcare has one of its larger planting activities planned for Saturday 19th June, running from 9:30am-12pm followed by a bbq lunch.
Following lunch, we will relocate to Ripples N Tonic for an overnight stay then tree planting on Sunday 20th June. President Elect Elias Lebbos has promised to cook up a Middle East gastronomical sensation for those present on Saturday night.
Further details may be obtained from either Rohan Williams or Kevin Love.
Please let Rohan Williams know if you are able to participate in this activity by Tuesday 1st June.
