Following on from our Working Bee at Donations in Kind (DIK) on 30 November 2023, we have sourced from DIK numerous products including thousands of T Shirts and Polos (in all sizes and colours) and Caps, scores of Pull Along Sports Bags and 1000 pairs of XL size Hospital Grade gloves.
What has happened to them this week? Well, the Tees and Polos have been sorted (PDG Bronwyn Stephens leading the way at DIK) and Peter Duras and I have been delivering to many of the Charities which our Club has supported in the past such as Youth Projects and Sacred Heart Mission. Another to receive the Tees, Polos and Caps was the Sacred Heart School off Brunswick St Fitzroy whose multicultural students reside in the old Fitzroy Housing Commission Flats nearby (see photo). There are still plenty in our storage for allocation next year.
The Sports Bags, which double as Cases, went to the Good Samaritan Inn in Preston who provide short term accommodation for women and children suffering domestic violence. When they leave, they leave with dignity with their belongings in these Cases.
But wait, there’s more....the gloves went to RCM!!! They will be used as a cost saving measure at our Bunnings Sausage Sizzles over the next ?? years.
Thankyou DIK for Giving and Receiving.
"Very happy Sacred Heart PS leaders Deng (with Cap) & Akongtuk (with Polo) along with School Principal Matthew Shawcross & Frank O'Brien".
